“Thank You For Your Prayers!” – Mandeali Community

Pamela Rath 2016, Bible Translation, Stories

Mandi_TownPastor Ron* reports from the Mandeali Language Group : “I am from the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. After my theological studies, I have been working as a Pastor among the Mandeali speaking community which has about 900,000 speakers. Even though there are many churches and pastors working in the area, we did not have any scriptures available in our heart language and so all our worship services were in Hindi which was not properly understood by many of the locals.

When I heard about the New Testament translation project 2 years back, myself and two others came forward to help in the translation representing our language community. We were not experts in Bible translation, but God enabled us to make it possible by His grace. We were trained in Bible translation principles and were also enrolled in the BILD church-based theological education program.

The most exciting part of this process was the involvement of local churches in translation and checking process. The local believers were so excited when they got an opportunity to be involved in this initiative. Many believers are now able to understand the scripture better because it is in their own heart language. They feel proud to be owners of the translation in their mother tongue and now eagerly waiting for the full Bible. Thanks for your prayers.
